According to the magazine Foreign Policy,Saudi Arabia is preparing an army troop of about 50 000 men, in Jordan, with the help of Pakistani instructors.
This information is not news, since the project has been know by our readers for quite some time. However, the initial strategy planned an attack for last August by a armoured tank line, supported by the US army. The Saudi Vice-Minister of Defence installed himself in Amman to supervise the creation of this army and insure the transfer of tanks from Saudi Arabia. A meeting took place in Amman from August 25th to the 27th 2013, under the chairmanship of General Lloyd J. Austin III, commander of CentCom, in order to prepare the operation. For the purpose of communication, the teams of the first armoured tanks will be entrusted to Syrians recruited in refugee camps, while the major part of the troops will be composed of mercenaries.
The news, is that the article in Foreign Policy is posterior to John Kerry’s trip to Riyadh to ensure good relations between both countries. It this were to be confirmed, it would prove that Saudi Arabia is pursuing this project even though the United-States’s military forces have backed out of Syria.
